London Hotels & Accommodation

Tower Bridge, LondonLondon is a huge cosmopolitan metropolis and the capital city of England in the United Kingdom (UK). It is actually the largest (and most cosmopolitan) city in Europe stretching beyond 30 miles on either side of the River Thames. For the first time visitor the sheer size can be a little daunting but, thankfully, the vast majority of the top tourist attractions are easily within reach of a nearby Tube station. Unless you are traveling around on a tour bus, taxi or private vehicle, the London Tube (London Underground Railway) is, by far, the easiest way to travel about the city. London is an incredibly ethnically diverse city enriched by the continual influx of settlers from around the globe. For the visitor this brings the most exciting choice in fine restaurants or other eating places with excellent meals ranging from a superb curry on Brick Lane to a Michelin star delight at the Dorchester on Park Lane.

London City Breaks

Steeped in history the choice of first class historic visitor attractions in London is endless, many of which are known the world over. Buckingham Palace is one of the most recognised places on the planet and is, nearly always, somewhere near the top of visitors lists of "places to visit in London", along with such places as the Tower of London, Tower Bridge (shown left), Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben and many, many more.

The UK National Lottery has to, by law, put a percentage of ticket sales into a fund made available to worthy causes around the country. This extra revenue has resulted in a number of interesting developments especially in the world of the arts. London has a most incredible number of museums and galleries with astounding collections and the National Lottery Fund has helped finance many fascinating projects to revitalise many of these very old establishments. Older places like the British Museum and the Royal Opera House have virtually reinvented themselves but the fund is not limited to existing establishments. Projects like the Tate Modern (the world's largest modern art gallery) and the London Eye (the world's largest cantilever observation wheel), shown right, have been a huge success with the London Eye becoming the most visited paid for attraction in the UK within a very short space of time. With old attractions being revamped and new world class attractions appearing all the time there is always going to be something of interest to virtually everybody, making London the finest place in Europe for a short city break.
