London Hotels Near The London Eye
The London Eye is London's (and the UK's) most popular paid for visitor attraction. Not bad for a relatively new tourist attraction and even more surprising when you consider that it is basically a very large fairground ride. In the last few hundred years there has been a small number of Ferris wheels built in such places as in the centre of Paris and London, and all proved very successful but only on a short term basis. Rather than being a true Ferris wheel the London Eye is described as the world's largest cantilever observation wheel - but to you and me it will always be an extremely large Ferris wheel.
London City Breaks & The London Eye
So what is so appealing about the London Eye? Why is it so highly recommended to folk taking city breaks in London? We feel that there are a small number of very powerful things about the wheel which work together to make it so appealing to all ages.
Firstly, the view across London is astounding and unique, unless you can afford a balloon ride or a flight in a private helicopter. It must be the very best way in which to see an incredibly large number of instantly recognisable London landmarks within a very short space of time.
Secondly, as I have said earlier, the resemblance of the Eye to a Ferris wheel is striking and everyone loves a fairground ride or anything that brings out the child in us.
Many other factors help make the London Eye an attraction that can easily be described as a "must see" landmark.
